Strengthening Physical Science Skills for the Middle and Upper Grades w/CD-ROM
Strengthening Physical Science Skills for the Middle and Upper Grades encourages students at the middle school level and beyond to develop an interest in and the confidence to succeed in physical science and more rigorous science courses. The activities are developed around major physical science concepts such as atoms, chemistry, states of matter, properties of matter, Newton's laws of motion, simple machines, vectors, static electricity, electricity, light refraction and reflection, waves, and Kepler's laws. Activities are developed to help students become familiar with the vocabulary critical to understanding science content. Strengthening Physical Science Skills for the Middle and Upper Grades has been developed to meet many of the recommendations from the National Science Education Standards. A review of selected state and national standards has been incorporated in the physical science exercises. The accompanying CD-ROM contains interactive exercises that focus on math skills related to physical science concepts. These activities can be completed on the computer in the classroom or can be e-mailed to the student's home computer. Printable science worksheets and reading activities are also included on the CD-ROM to provide extra practice in the physical science concepts, technical vocabulary, and multisyllabic words students will encounter in science courses. Students will improve their science skills and understanding of science content with the activities in this worktext and CD-ROM.
